Measuring Instruments

FAQ

Where do I have to send the instrument for servicing?

  • Please contact your local Konica Minolta office or partner for getting current information such as address, contact person, turnaround time.

What do I have to send in for servicing?

  • If you send your instrument for calibration, please do not forget to send important accessory such as white calibration plate, AC adapter and serial cable, as these accessories will enable our service facilities to check the instruments like you use them. Especially the white calibration plate is one important part of a complete measurement system. If the white calibration plate is not calibrated, all readings of the complete system may be wrong!

My software does not communicate with the instrument

  • Please check both software and instrument to have common communication settings like for example baud rate!
  • Please check if proper RS-Cable is used. There are different cables in the market, some of them have different wiring whilst others have different screws for fixing the connector. In addition, low cost cables are more sensitive against noise, especially when using cable length of more than 2 meters. Konica Minolta strongly recommends to use only original RS-Cable supplied by Konica Minolta.
  • Some software requires "English" style regional setting for decimal and list separator. Try to use "." as decimal symbol, "," as digit grouping symbol and "," as list separator. Not only number format must be changed, but also the currency format. Thus please also try to change the currency settings in case of software communication problem.

Can Konica Minolta calibrate instruments of other brands?

  • No, Konica Minolta service facilities can exclusively perform calibrations for Konica Minolta instruments.

What is the lifetime of a white calibration plate?

  • It is rather difficult to specify such lifetime as it strongly depends on the environmental conditions. A calibration plate which is used in laboratory under stable environmental conditions of course has a longer lifetime than the same plate used in production facility. Due to this difficulty, Konica Minolta recommends a calibration interval of 1 year also for white calibration plates.
